Recent experience

  • Advising US citizens and US expats with Spanish tax and estate planning advice;

  • Advising as to how best to structure the tax efficient receipt by a US citizen of capital distributions from an existing offshore structure;
  • Advising a high net worth individual on pre-arrival planning before becoming tax resident in Spain, including advice relating to the Special Tax Regime for Expats (Beckham Law), the tax efficient investments in Spain, the taxation of trusts and management and control issues in relation to non-Spanish companies;
  • Designing the most efficient ownership structure for a client to hold valuable US real estate;
  • Comparing asset holding vehicles (such as trusts, foundations and family investment companies) and the possible jurisdictions in which to create such assets holding structures for a client with connections to multiple jurisdictions;
  • Advising a very private internationally mobile family on the transition of wealth deriving from a successful, well-established business to the next generation, using a simple structure to promote the family’s agreed objective to preserve and enhance ‘legacy’ assets for the benefit of future generations; 
  • Advising on structuring of a number of property businesses for international clients, to ensure foreign income/gains can be invested in Spain in a tax efficient way, assets are ringfenced, and efficient profit extraction, and;
  • Restructuring of a Real Estate business, including use of tax efficient loan notes, and ensuring it will qualify for Wealth Tax exemption.
